“The insurance company keeps calling and I don’t know what to say.” — We take over all communication the moment you hire us. You don’t talk to them. We do.
“I’m afraid that if I file a lawsuit, immigration will get involved.” — We’ve been protecting clients’ status in personal injury cases for over 35 years. Your immigration status is not admissible in your injury case — and we fight hard to keep it that way.
“I can’t afford a lawyer — I’m already drowning in medical bills.” — You pay $0 upfront. We only get paid when you win. If we don’t recover money for you, you owe us nothing.

Why Coloradans Trust Law Offices of Miguel Martínez, P.C.
Miguel Martínez has been fighting for Colorado families since 1989 — that’s over 35 years and more than 5,000 cases handled. In that time, his firm has recovered over $200 million for injured clients across Denver, Greeley, and the surrounding communities.
His background is unlike any other personal injury attorney in Colorado. Before representing injury victims, Miguel served as both an Assistant District Attorney and an Assistant U.S. Attorney. He knows exactly how prosecutors and defense teams build their cases — and he uses that insider knowledge to dismantle the opposition’s strategy before it gains traction.
Miguel came to the United States from Mexico at age 16. He served as a U.S. Army Field Medic in Vietnam. He built his career from the ground up in Colorado, and he has spent decades serving the community he calls home. He is not just your attorney — he is your advocate, your neighbor, and someone who has faced the same fears his clients face.
No competitor in the Denver Metro area and surrounding communities offers this combination: former-prosecutor trial skill + immigration protection strategy + 35 years of community trust + Se Habla Español. That is why families who have the most to lose choose Miguel Martínez.

The Legal Protection Colorado Families Actually Need
Workers’ Compensation — Including “Shadow Economy” Workers
Whether you work on the books or off, you have legal rights in Colorado if you’re hurt on the job. We specifically fight for undocumented workers and cash-pay employees who are told by employers that they “can’t” file a claim. You recover wages, medical costs, and compensation for your injuries — regardless of your documentation status.

Personal Injury — Car, Truck & Pedestrian Accidents
You were hurt by someone else’s negligence on Colorado roads. Insurance companies move fast to minimize what they pay you — and they count on you not knowing your rights. We know every tactic they use because Miguel Martínez spent years on the other side of the courtroom as a federal prosecutor. You walk away with the maximum settlement your case supports, and your status stays out of it.
Motor Vehicle Accidents – Cars and Trucks
A motor vehicle accident can turn your life upside down in an instant — and the road to fair compensation is rarely straightforward. Insurance companies move fast to protect their bottom line, not yours. The Law Offices of Miguel Martínez, P.C. moves faster.
Commercial vehicle cases add another layer of complexity. These vehicles are larger, the injuries are often more severe, and liability rarely falls on just one party. We know how to untangle it — and we negotiate hard with every responsible party on your behalf. If they won’t settle fairly, we take it to court.

Criminal Defense
A car accident, a workplace incident, or a moment of crisis can quickly turn into a criminal charge in Colorado. Having an attorney who understands both the civil and criminal side of the same incident is rare — and it’s the difference between a conviction and a dismissed case. We handle both, so nothing falls through the cracks.

Immigration-Protected Injury Claims
Defense attorneys routinely try to weaponize a plaintiff’s immigration status to scare them into accepting a low settlement or dropping a case entirely. Miguel Martínez has seen this tactic from both sides of the aisle. We block it before it starts — using specific legal strategies to keep your status out of the courtroom and your family safe.

Experience Rooted in Service. Advocacy Built on Empathy.
Miguel’s Background
Miguel Martinez’s journey to the law began with resilience. In 1966, at just 16 years old, he and his family made the bold decision to immigrate from Mexico to the United States. After earning his high school diploma in 1970, Miguel answered the call to serve his adopted country by enlisting in the U.S. Army. He was deployed to Vietnam, where he worked as a Field Medic — a role that demanded both courage and a deep commitment to others. Honorably discharged in 1973, he went on to earn his undergraduate degree from the University of Houston in 1977, concentrating in Latin American History and Literature.
A Legal Career Defined by Purpose
Miguel’s path to the law took him first to Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., before he continued his studies closer to home at the University of Texas Law School in Austin, where he earned his Juris Doctor. Upon his admission to the Texas Bar in 1981, he dedicated the first chapter of his legal career to public service — spending eight years as an Assistant District Attorney in both San Antonio and Galveston, and as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Texas in Houston. In 1989, Miguel and his family put down roots in Colorado, where he has been building his private practice for more than three decades.
Common Questions About Colorado Personal Injury Attorney & Legal Advocate in Colorado
Can I file a personal injury claim if I’m undocumented?
Yes. In Colorado, your immigration status does not affect your legal right to file a personal injury or workers’ compensation claim. You are entitled to compensation for your injuries regardless of your documentation — and we use specific legal strategies to keep your status out of the courtroom entirely
How much does it cost to hire a personal injury attorney?
Nothing upfront. We work on a contingency fee basis — we only get paid if we win your case. Colorado contingency fees typically range from 30–40% of the final recovery, and we discuss this clearly before you sign anything. If we don’t win, you owe us nothing.
How long do I have to file a personal injury claim in Colorado?
or most personal injury cases, Colorado law gives you 2 years from the date of injury. Car accident cases have a 3-year window under Colorado’s statute of limitations (C.R.S. § 13-80-101). Do not wait — evidence disappears and witnesses’ memories fade. Call us today.
Will filing a lawsuit put my immigration status at risk?
This is the question we get most often — and the answer is: not if we handle your case. Defense attorneys sometimes try to introduce immigration status to intimidate plaintiffs into settling for less. We know this tactic. We block it. Your status should not be admissible in a personal injury case, and we fight to keep it that way.
What if I was partially at fault for the accident?
olorado follows a “Modified Comparative Negligence” rule under C.R.S. § 13-21-111. If you were less than 50% at fault, you can still recover compensation — it’s just reduced by your percentage of fault. Most clients who think they were “partly to blame” are surprised by what we can still recover for them.
What happens to my medical bills while my case is pending?
We negotiate directly with Denver Health, Saint Joseph Hospital, and other local providers to reduce hospital liens. This means that when your case settles, you actually keep more of the money — instead of watching it go straight to medical debt
How long will my case take?
Most straightforward injury cases in Colorado settle within 6–18 months. Complex cases involving serious injuries, commercial vehicles, or disputed liability can take longer. We give you a realistic timeline at your consultation — not a vague non-answer.
Ready to Fight Back and Protect Everything You’ve Built?
You have a limited window to act. Evidence gets lost. Witnesses move on. Insurance companies are already building their defense. Call us today and we start working on your case immediately. In the next 5 minutes, you can reach our team, tell us what happened, and leave knowing exactly what your options are — at zero cost to you.
