Why Denver Locals Trust Law Offices of Miguel Martínez, P.C.

For over 30 years, our team has been based right here in City Park West at 1776 Vine St. We walk past the Vine Street Pub for lunch. We know the traffic patterns on Colfax and Broadway. When you visit our office, you aren’t walking into a corporate tower—you are walking into a safe haven for the community.
We know the specific hazards Denver residents face:
- The I-70 Blind Spots: The glare and sudden stops near the Purina Plant and the Central 70 project cause devastating rear-end collisions.
- Construction Risks: From the high-rises in LoDo to residential builds in Capitol Hill, we know the “Big Four” construction hazards—falls, struck-by incidents, caught-between accidents, and electrocution—better than anyone.
Hospital Liens: We know how to negotiate aggressive liens from Denver Health and Saint Joseph Hospital so they don’t eat up your entire settlement.
More Than Just Injury Law: Protecting Your Rights on Every Front
Real life doesn’t fit into neat little boxes. In Denver, legal problems often overlap. A car accident can lead to criminal traffic charges; a workplace injury can expose your immigration status; a criminal record can destroy your injury settlement. Most firms only look at one piece of the puzzle.
Most personal injury lawyers in Denver only know injury law. That is dangerous if you have a complex background.
If you are an immigrant or have a criminal record, a simple car accident case can turn into a nightmare if handled incorrectly. Defense attorneys and insurance adjusters often try to use aggressive questioning about your status to intimidate you into dropping your claim.
Miguel Martinez is different.
As a former State and Federal Prosecutor turned Private Defense Attorney, Miguel possesses a unique skillset that combines injury law with immigration and criminal defense expertise.
How We Protect You:
We Block the Trap: We know exactly how to object when defense lawyers try to weaponize your immigration status during depositions.
We Protect Your Wages: Even if you are paid in cash or “under the table,” Colorado law protects your right to lost wages. We know how to prove your economic loss without exposing your identity to public scrutiny.
We Connect the Dots: We ensure that your injury settlement doesn’t inadvertently trigger a “Public Charge” issue or impact your path to citizenship.
Workers’ Compensation Claims
When a tragedy occurs, families are often left with massive bills and no income. We have recovered millions for TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) and spinal cord victims, ensuring long-term care costs are covered.
An injury at work can be both emotionally and financially devastating. While handling your workers’ compensation claim on your own is an option in some cases, hiring a work injury lawyer can make the process less stressful and increase your chances of a good outcome. Workers’ compensation usually covers a portion of your lost wages while you’re unable to work. If you can work but not in your regular role, workers’ compensation can make up some of the difference.
Hiring a work injury lawyer with the Law Offices of Miguel Martinez, P.C., is especially important when proving that your injury was work-related is more complex, or you think you might be permanently disabled because of your injury.

Personal Injury
A Denver personal injury lawyer can help in a number of situations. Suppose you were injured and someone else’s negligence was a factor leading to your injury. In that case, you may be able to file a personal injury lawsuit.
Slip and fall injuries and car accidents are both common situations that can lead to personal injury claims.
Working with a Denver car accident lawyer can help you avoid common mistakes that can happen when dealing with the other driver’s insurance company on your own.
Our Denver lawyers have won hundreds of millions of dollars for our clients. This compensation can pay for your medical bills and other expenses so you can focus on recovering from your injuries.
Colorado is a “Modified Comparative Negligence” state (C.R.S. § 13-21-111). This means if you are found 50% or more at fault, you get nothing. Insurance companies know this and will try to pin the blame on you.
Motor Vehicle Accidents
A car accident involving a commercial vehicle can be incredibly complicated, making it more critical than ever to work with a Denver car accident lawyer.
Commercial vehicles are usually larger, which means they can cause more severe injuries if involved in a crash.
They’re also not traditionally owned by the driver, which can add complexity to your legal case. An experienced Denver personal injury lawyer at the Law Office of Miguel Martinez will be able to guide you through the process.
We investigate the crash scene—whether it’s a T-bone at Speer & Downing or a pile-up on I-225—to prove the other driver was negligent. We have recovered millions for clients injured in:
- Rear-end collisions on I-25 and I-70
- Intersection accidents along Colfax Avenue
- Highway crashes involving commercial trucks
- Pedestrian and bicycle accidents in downtown Denver
We’ll negotiate with the appropriate parties on your behalf and take your case to court if necessary.

Criminal Defense
Being charged with a crime puts your freedom and future at stake, so hiring the right Denver lawyers to defend you is essential. Our Denver criminal defense lawyers have experience with both the prosecution and defense sides of criminal law.
We understand how to put together the most robust possible defense for your situation. In many criminal cases, small details in the evidence can influence the severity of the penalties, so a thorough understanding the the evidence is essential.
Whether you’re facing charges for DUI, a traffic offense, assault, or felony assault, our team is prepared to offer strong representation.

Immigration
Moving to the United States from abroad means navigating extremely complex immigration laws. Completing all of the paperwork, processes, and requirements you need on your own is difficult, especially if you aren’t a fluent speaker or reader of English.
Undocumented workers in Colorado are often victims of the “Shadow Economy.” You may have been told you can’t file for Workers’ Comp because you don’t have papers. That is a lie.We help injured workers get medical care and lost wages, and we fight back against employers who threaten deportation as retaliation.
Any errors you make can hurt your chances of having your application approved. Our Denver lawyers have the expertise to guide you through the process. Whether you’re seeking a temporary permit or U.S. citizenship, we’ll ensure that everything is done correctly the first time.
The Experience You Need. The Compassion You Deserve.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I sue for an injury in Denver if I am undocumented?
Yes. The U.S. Constitution and Colorado courts affirm that everyone has the right to seek justice for injuries, regardless of immigration status. Your status should not be admissible in court to deny your injury claim. We fight to keep it that way.
What if I can’t afford a lawyer?
For some of our services we work on a Contingency Fee Basis. You pay $0 upfront. We only get paid if we win your case. If we don’t recover money for you, you owe us nothing.
Will filing a lawsuit make my address public for ICE?
We take extreme precautions to protect our clients’ privacy. While lawsuits are public record, we use specific legal strategies to minimize exposure and protect your family’s safety.
What is the Statute of Limitations in Colorado?
Generally, you have three years to file a lawsuit for a motor vehicle accident and two years for other personal injuries. However, if a government entity (like a city bus or police car) was involved, you may have as little as 180 days to file a notice. Do not wait.
How do you handle hospital liens?
Hospitals like Denver Health and Saint Joseph often place aggressive liens on injury settlements. We negotiate these liens down so you keep more of your recovery. Our experience with local Denver hospitals gives us an advantage in these negotiations.
